“When you smoke the herb, it reveals you to yourself.” —Bob Marley
I have always been a writer. I have stacks of old notebooks that I’ve kept since I was six years old. There are journals filled with a young girl’s simplistic thoughts, pages drenched in dreams of a teenager, and scribbles in notebooks of a young woman’s secrets. I have always felt safest when I could put my feelings on paper.
The other part of my soul is Mary Jane. Weed elevates my spirit to a level where I can appreciate the wide range of thoughts that flow through my mind.
I didn’t realize I could pursue writing and/or a cannabis career until I found myself in a college journalism course. I spent my final year at CSU East Bay writing stories about cannabis and local events. The combination of infusing cannabis, community, and writing sparked a light in my soul.
This period of finding my writer's voice led me to my other secret passion of writing poetry.
Cannabis and writing have continued to be a constant in my life. I continue to write about cannabis for blogs, I just self-published my first poetry book, and I proudly work within the cannabis industry, learning everything I can on a daily basis.
I am now unapologetically a cannabis writer.
